Local women's organizations and local 🏳️🌈 organizations across Canada rely on WAGE funding to advance their work and support the communities they serve.
Now is the time to lean in and bolster our commitment to gender equality. Not to cut vital funding.
This reduction is a result of multiple multi-year past commitments coming to an end (I.e. we shouldn't read *too much* into it). But while those funds are sunsetting, the work to advance equality and human rights continues.
If we don't see new investments (like in the upcoming federal budget) in Women and Gender Equality Canada, the department will see an 80% budget reduction by 2027-2028.
Cuts will jeopardize 🇨🇦's progress towards gender equality & 🏳️🌈 rights.
