I exist in a parallel universe of genAI disappointment. Gemini, Claude and OpenAI fail to analyze a chessboard position or accurately calculate a stock portfolio based on retrieved current prices. And when I feed them a script to comment on, they either fawn all over it or go into insult comic mode.

In the morning, I see the headline in the paper and wonder if it a holdover from the day before ... but no.

Romania gets a brilliant mathematician. Mexico gets a PhD in engineering. Canada gets a PhD in Econ from Oxford who ran the Bank of Canada and Bank of England. We get the "they're eating the dogs and cats" guy.

The value of everything we import from China is about equal to what the Chinese spend in weddings. (About $400B each)
