For a criminal investigation. For a lot to reasons.
People are facing consequences due to public pressure. Public opinion due to associations is very different than proving a crime.
They didn’t sit on it. They prosecuted Maxwell. We have no idea if their investigation found enough evidence to convict anybody aside from Maxwell.
For example we know Howard Lutnick went t the island and most likely did some crimes.
But proving it in court is another thing.
To be fair, they did prosecute and convict the woman who trafficked all of those girls.
As for all the other people , as damning as the documents we’ve seen are , you need quite a bit more to successfully prosecute. Emails and birthday cards that make your skin crawl isn’t enough.
