BLACK EDUCATORS
MAKING HISTORY
β’ Say Her Name
"I am grateful to the many Black educators in my life who mentored me and helped put me on the path to getting a PhD. The
encouragement they provided opened my eyes to a road I never thought I'd travel. Now I can walk my talk, model empathy in my courses and my work, and I can do for others (mentor, encourage, educate) what was done for me.'

The arts are essential, and I believe every child deserves access to an equitable and high-quality arts education. I am changing history in theatre and dance education by exposing my students to artists who look like them and providing a space where all students can dream big, make mistakes, laugh, cry, heal, and be their full, authentic, and unapologetic selves through the arts.

chemist and educator, I know that I serve as a daily example that we belong in all spaces. That one small moment can make impact that you won't see until later because as | tell my students, the world is waiting and you never know who's watching you.

Black educators have always done more than teach. We carry history, culture, and responsibility in systems not built for us.
This BHM, I am highlighting Black educators making history right now. In classrooms. In schools. In communities.
If you are a Black educator, your work matters. We see you.

Day 2 of educator affirmation:
Your effort is real and it shows in ways people overlook.
It's real because you show up on days you're exhausted. It's real even on days no one acknowledges it. Keep showing up. Your current reality isn't permanent.

Pick 3 educators you follow and encourage them daily until Dec 19 please. If you know anything about this time of year - the kids tired, we tired, the kids turn all the way up, we have to cope.
Special blessings to those of us in middle school. Be blessed. #BlackEduSky #EduSky #iteachmath

Financial aid funding is the most immediate impact. It will decrease the amount students are eligible for. That can lead to students choosing not to enter into these fields. Guess which population of folk that will impact the most?

When You're The Chain & The Paperclip: Examing Your Own Belief in Leadership
It is early November and every educator is ready for a break. The kids too, if we are being honest. This time of year brings a need for a reset for many reasons. Assessment data comes in and it is not...
This season has been heavy. Leading every day while your own belief feels thin is a different kind of work. It is the version of leadership no one really prepares you for. The quiet erosion no one talks about. The part that shifts how you see yourself while you keep moving. #BlackEduSky #EduSky
