This 2001 Moodymann 12” goes crazy. It cuts up the Detroit radio DJ Mojo’s famed ‘86 interview with Prince, chopping the questions to sound like an interview with Moody. The beat beneath is murky and hard-hitting, then shifts into a lighter, jazzier Rhodes flex. 🔥

Spending a lot of time lately with this little-known Stereolab side project from 1997, a collaboration between Tim Gane, Andy Ramsay, and the High Llamas' Sean O'Hagan. Released just a month before 'Dots and Loops,' it applies some of that album's best qualities to a 'library music' setting.
Not both of us seeing that tour! I waited for two hours outside the backstage doors and got a hug. Felt like walking on a cloud. Laura Nyro could never.
