If you choose to spend all your non-working time on activism I understand and respect that. The fact that you are not required to toil in the fields for as long as the sun is up is the reason that you have the ability to engage in that activism though.

Ha! To be clear I mean lines on the page. I get to around 道沖而用之或不盈。淵兮似萬物之宗。before it becomes too tempting to just read the translation. At this point it's been too many years since college for me to make it even that far.

I've read through the first 50 lines of the 道德经 about 5 times and haven't been able to make it any farther personally. I'm a hobbyist not a professional though. Makes for good party stories though since no one there is going to call you out on it being an inch deep.

Removing someone's access without sending them a "Your access will be removed in 14/7/2/1 days" email on at least 2 occasions including the day before is bad practice too IMO. Sorry you're dealing with this.

When I worked in University IT we always waited 6 months to a year after departure to deactivate emails for exactly this reason. The only times we immediately deactivated an email is if someone was fired for cause and they were a threat to the university still having it.
