This work came on the back of an expedition that took place 3 yrs ago, where we surveyed shallow and deep reefs in Central & Southern Maldives.
It was a huge collaborative undertaking led by Maldives Marine Research Institute, Nekton & partners across the globe

Great to see this work being out in the wild!
We found that deeper habitats are more vulnerable to disturbance and support functionally unique and threatened fish and, thus, should be a conservation priority.
