William Anthony "Willie" ColΓ³n RomΓ‘n, the pioneering salsa musician, composer, trombonist, and cultural force whose work helped propel Latin music onto the global stage, died on February 21, 2026, at 75 years old.
Rest in peace, Willie ColΓ³n.
"While we grieve his absence, we also rejoice in the timeless gift of his music and the cherished memories he created that will live on forever," his family shared in a statement on social media.

But Withers' backing band, Booker T & MGs told him that it felt more raw and human this way, and that altering it would ruin the song

Inderdaad echt walgelijk. Ik begreep ook dat Duitsland een bid heeft gedaan op de spelen van 2036, 100 jaar na de fascistische spelen daar van 1936. Naar mijn mening ook dubieus, moet dat echt als een jubileum gevierd worden?

My dear friend Oskar Maarleveld - a man of many talents - and I go way back: he was one of the founders of the big funk/go-go outfit Traffic Jam, which was very active in the Netherlands and France in the β90s (who remembers?), and which I was a proud part of.
