I also have a few boxes of original 1930’s 1950’ deadstock milliners flowers - for hats, fascinators, corsages. If anyone is interested in these let me know! #fashionhistory #vintagedeadstock #vintagefashion

Is there a lace or fabric historian in my network? I have a box of antique Belgian lace plus original patterns and fabric material to create ribbon lace. I want to sell it to someone who will care for it, maybe use it, study it. Let me know if you are or know someone!

Influencers making ice cream in the snow, all acting like they just came up with the idea, foodies following suit. People claiming that is how ice cream was made in the past. No it wasn’t.

Yesterday at the Plantin-Moretus museum, home to the oldest printing presses in the world and the perfect location for my two lectures about culinary books and manuscripts, some that have even been printed here in the 16th century. Pictured recipes by one of the great women of the family.

Wonderful, I hope we can get some of it back on here but I keep ping-ponging between here and threads as not everyone is on here yet.

I love how you could post an information request on twitter for something obscure and moments later you’d be chatting with someone from Iceland about it. Also, a whole community was created that became real friends, still 15 years onwards. I was bridesmaid to the first person I β€œmet” on social media

Today is Saint-Nicholas day. Sinterklaas visits children in many cultures and has been an ever-evolving feast from its inception. Shaped by societal changes, the figure of the saint and his companion have taken on many forms throughout history and the feast continues to evolve. - pics are my own

Sounds a lot like what I hear from some Hungarians and Czech. Only I am surprised about the Greek. In Crete anyway you can see slogans against Putin, yet not nearly as much as support for Gaza.
A Cretan told me that they relied a lot on Russian tourists before the war.

A TV channel invited me on Insta to collab on a post I was metioned in so I did but boy wasn’t I prepared for all the trolling and negativity that flooded into my inbox. I cancelled the collab, all upset and made my own post which is getting kind and loving comments, so grateful for my own community

Someone doesn’t appreciate my acknowledgment of the dark history of sugar at the start of my book about historical and traditional British baking and left this review on the German Am-azon. Wait until she finds out all my books start with this β€œmoral index finger”!

A British magazine contacting me to β€œoffer” to promote my books in their β€œhighly anticipated” Christmas gift guide. He goes on: β€œWhile our standard full-page rate card is Β£2,000 + vat, this special section is just Β£400 + vat for a third of a page…”

I’m writing down my trauma and suddenly I am at 10.000 words. Here’s to the next 10K because I am not done yet. And no, I am not writing a book, this is purely therapeutic.
