I see a lot of these stories about migrant workers being denied entry to shelters in Israel. Often without detail, and almost always false. In the case of Marie Anne De Vera, it's a blatant and horrible lie

Three men deported by US file legal case against Eswatini over detention The men, who had been released after completing criminal sentences, are from Cuba, Jamaica and Yemen

Three men deported by the US to Eswatini โ€“ rather than their home countries โ€“ have filed a case against Eswatiniโ€™s government with the African Unionโ€™s human rights body.

Eswatini's govt said: "These individuals are not detained or imprisoned. They are being accommodated in a secure environment."

From Bangladesh to Italy via Libya: Many migrants interviewed started their journeys through legal migration channels or believed they were doing so. When those pathways become inaccessible or too costly, the same intermediaries can redirect migrants into irregular routes. bit.ly/4cZBb3e

Put simply:

Humans: weak, multi-dimensional, cross-cutting belief systems.

LLM personas: concentrated, low-dimensional, highly predictable.

Not just stronger ideologyโ€”flattened geometry.

The war on Iran likely brings a new oil price shock and windfall profits.

So, who stands to win?

Our research shows: Last time around (2022), the US reaped the largest fossil fuel profits of any country ($377bn). 50% went to the top 1%, only 1% to the bottom 50%. A๐Ÿงต

I predicted this shift to temporariness in my 2024 CEEMR @ceemr-journal.bsky.social article. Soon it will be discussed in the EU as well because this is how a race to the bottom works. But implementing far-right migration policies remains a losing strategy for "centre" parties and their societies.

Hindus and Jews are much more likely to have a four-year college degree than Americans in other religious groups, according to Pew Research Centerโ€™s 2023-24 Religious Landscape Study (RLS). Seven-in-ten Hindus and 65% of Jews have a bachelorโ€™s degree or more education. That compares with 35% of U.S. adults overall. On the other end of the spectrum, lower shares of evangelical Protestants (29%) and members of historically Black Protestant denominations (24%) hold college degrees. The shares of college graduates for several other religious groups range from 35% to 45%.
