Exciting paper on genetic influences on speech fluency, out now in @natgenet.nature.com. In a big step forward for the field, genome scans of almost 100,000 people with self-reported stuttering, & 1 million controls, identify 57 associated loci. Great work by @piperbelow.bsky.social & her team.🗣️🧬🧪
The position focuses on social communication assessments and intervention for young children on the autism spectrum. Interventions are grounded in naturalistic developmental behavioral intervention strategies and include music- and play-based activities.

In this paper, we also compare effects for parent-reported behavior (frequency of singing to infant) with parent-reported beliefs in importance of music. Actual (self-reported) musical behavior matters more than beliefs for relationships with child langauge and gestures!
