It feels very odd to have finished my first draft of my Dokiwatch story. It’s been a very all encompassing thing for the last few weeks. Main takeaway is that it’s been so fun to CREATE again.

I wish I could DRAW I want to draw art to go along with each chapter of my Dokiwatch fic

I think I might pursue that thread! I really want to (in a potential second story arc) open up the universe a little to more Hearts, more Anubis, and more omnics! So this could all tie together quite nicely 👁️

Anubis’ intentions are, in its eyes, noble but of course also bad because emotions are good!!

I wanted to really lean into how much heart the genre often has, and thought it could be quite a powerful theme when paired with young women tasked with saving the world!

Some of Anubis’ allies broke away and using its technology created the antithesis of its ideas - Magitech! And therefore were the very first Hearts that sealed naughty Anubis away until much later

bear in mind it’s all still first draft, idea is that Anubis was not manmade but some sort of alien AI that landed on Earth a long time ago. It wanted to purge humanity of the ability to feel (corrupting everyone with woe!) in the interest of “saving the planet” from its greatest weakness (emotion)

This actually could align with my idea of the origins of Magitech as well…

They’re admittedly fairly vague in the story I’m telling so far, but the idea of a second story arc where I could explore the origins in greater detail and introduce a lot more omnic stuff is quite tempting
