My @smh @theage cartoon
An editorial cartoon by Megan Herbert that depicts a super ute (brand: RAM IT THROUGH), in the tray compartment of which sits and Australian family, an indigenous elder, a kangaroo, a koala with baby, and a sea turtle, all wearing crash test dummy stickers on various parts of their bodies and heads. Leaning out of the cabin's windows are passenger PM Anthony Albanese, who is waving a flag saying "Environment Protection Reform Bill", and driver MP Murray Watt, also adorned with crash test dummy insignia. A sign on the side of the ute reads: "DESIGNED BY INDUSTRY, POWERED BY FOSSIL FUELS". The ute is revving, exhaust fumes pluming from the rear, in readiness to be driven at speed headlong into a wall in a crash test facility, on which is written, in emergency colours, CLIMATE CHANGE. Murray Watt cheerfully invites Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young and Coalition leader Sussan Ley to "Hop in!" Senator Hanson-Young, walking away with arms crossed, says, "No thanks." MP Ley, smiling, hand on hip, and ready to negotiate, says, "Only if you lose the seat belts, airbags and cut the brakes."
Brace for impacts.

62% is a climate disaster.
This is a plan for more climate disasters, more job losses & more homes destroyed.
The Government has failed. Instead of being ambitious and bold, they have cowered to the fossil fuel industry.
Itโs a fake target, more about politics than science or the environment.
Donโt buy the spin, this target fails to match the science.
62% will mean more toxic algae blooms, more deadly bushfires and more environmental and economic catastrophes.
The only people cheering today are the fossil fuel companies.
The Governmentโs climate target is a huge disappointment. Instead of being ambitious and bold, they have failed. This is a fake target, more about politics than science or the environment.
62% is a climate disaster.
This is a plan for more climate disasters, more job losses & more homes destroyed.
SA algal bloom shows new criteria for climate disasters needed, Hanson-Young says โ video
Australian Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, Calls For Snoop to Be Removed From Australian rules football's showpiece event. Snoop should be sent to the doghouse, and nowhere near the 2025 AFL Grand Final. That's the substance of a msg from Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, to call for Snoop's removal.๐ง
๐ข Sarah Hanson Young says the AFL shouldn't be paying the American superstar rapper $2 million to perform at its grand final pre-show when it can give Australian artists the platform.

Great news that the worldโs oldest rock art at Murujuga has been recognised for World Heritage importance.
Australia now has a global responsibility to protect it from damage, including Woodsideโs polluting North West Shelf gas plant.
Labor has a choose. Heritage & nature, or Woodside toxic profits.
This is the right end to a very sorry saga, but itโs a terrible day for the board and CEO of Creative Australia who have disgraced themselves throughout this ordeal.
The leadership & board of Creative Australia needs a clean out to rebuild trust within the artistic community and Australian public.
Well done to everyone who stood up to the relentless and cowardly lobbying of the right wing media, conservative politicians & others whose prejudice sought to tear down a great Australian artist.
A huge win for freedom of artistic expression and truth.
BREAKING ๐จ Artist Khaled Sabsabi
& curator Michael Dagostino have been reinstated as Australiaโs Venice Biennale rep.
This is a vindication for everyone who stood up for Khaled in the artistic & wider community.
A victory for courage over fear and lies.
Well done to everyone who stood up to the relentless and cowardly lobbying of the right wing media, conservative politicians & others whose prejudice sought to tear down a great Australian artist.
A huge win for freedom of artistic expression and truth.
Enough with the excuses.
The fossil fuel giants should be paying for the damage and destruction they profit off.
While everyday people and small business struggle with insurance costs, the coal and gas companies like Woodside and Santos must be held to account.
Just like a tropical cyclone, east coast lows feed on ocean heat.
To prevent these disasters getting worse, we need climate action.
While communities pay for the damage of these events, itโs the fossil fuel corporations making massive profits off the pollution thatโs making things more dangerous.
As the โweather bombโ hits the NSW coast today, my thoughts are with everyone preparing for yet another extreme weather event.
Stay safe everyone. And follow the emergency services advice.
Climate change is fuelling these events as they occur more often and become more dangerous.
US authorities shooting an Aussie journalist is shocking, unacceptable and must be called out.
The Prime Minister must seek an urgent explanation and tell President Trump to stop his cops shooting at our journalists.
Freedom of the press is a fundamental pillar of a strong, functioning democracy.
Greens portfolios revealed!
Iโm honoured to continue as the Greens spokesperson for Environment & Water, Communications and Arts.
We have so much to do!
Nature needs us. The planet is choking. Our rivers, oceans and forests are being destroyed.
I will hold the loggers and polluters to account.
Sarah Hanson-Young says itโs not up to Donald Trump to be โdictating to othersโ including to Australia on Defence spending.

Sarah Hanson-Young fires back at Sarah Fergusonโs question on โwhere would the energy supply come fromโ if NWS wasnโt extended
โThis is not about supply. This is all about profits. In this case the profits of a big co like Woodside at the expense of everybody elseโs safetyโ๐ฅ #abc730
The final act of the last parliament was to gut Australiaโs environment laws.
The first act from the new government is to trash climate credibility, with Woodsideโs huge pollution bomb.
The Enviro minister has failed at the first hurdle. Trashing the environment, not protecting it.
If starving and bombing children to death doesnโt warrant sanctions what will?
For 19 months children have born the brunt of the war in Gaza. It is a war on children.
There is no excuse for the brutality being inflicted on the innocent lives of Palestinian children & families.
It must end ๐
Sarah Hanson-Young says she feels โreally proud to be an Australianโ after the โresounding rejectionโ of Peter Dutton & the Coalitionโs โhateโ & โnastyโ Trump-style politics on Saturday.๐ฏ#abc

Sarah Hanson-Young was asked to remove her 2yo daughter Kora from the Senate back in 2009.
Now Kora is voting for the first time.
She was born during her mumโs first Senate campaign in 2007 and has been along for the ride ever since.

Peter Dutton is now going full Nasty Party.
Attacking Welcome to Country after the Anzac Day neo-nazi disgrace is divisive, dangerous and desperate.
The nasty, mean dog-whistle politics is on full throttle.
Peter Dutton is a disgrace.
Peter Duttonโs campaign is literally stuck on the curbโฆ.
Says everything ๐ณ
Rather than another trip to a petrol station, Peter Dutton should go to a few more supermarketsโฆ
(Or, is that the womenโs job.. ๐ค)
Peter Duttonโs attack on the ABC is true to form.
The mask has slippedโฆ under pressure of the campaign Peter Dutton is reverting to type: Nasty.
Just like Trump.
The morons who disgraced themselves at the dawn service do not represent the Anzac Spirit. Their actions were disrespectful and ugly.
Sadly, attacks on Welcome to Country ceremonies have been inflamed by Peter Dutton and One Nation.
Mr Dutton really should take this moment to reflect and think.
