I lived in London in the 80s (when there was 2/3 of the world's current population) and workmanship was as obvious as expensive watches are today. Twice the cost of rack clothing, but lasted longer, could be modified, and clothing was not just something you wore. It defined you and your values.

If what is going on now does not show how much we need to learn about Cyber Security, then we are doomed. I am personally saving up for a new computer to put Linux and Linux phone. I don't trust the tools we are using.

They can't admit they are wrong, they are a cult and will only listen to what their leaders says and as we have seen, he always blames his disasters on someone else. When they go broke it will because of DEI, no Musk shutting the gov down, or his policies

Standard Blockchain resource requirements vs ICP - Internet Computer capabilities
Any interaction with a blockchain other than ICP will incur fees, because any blockchain that canβt store data fully on-chain is essentially just a ledger. No matter how advanced the ledger is, it can only sign a transaction quickly and securely. As a ledger, that is the best it can offer.

This is brilliant! My brother is a psychiatrist and always emphasizes engaging children early in decision making, risk/reward concepts, and what all children seem to have instinctively - fairness. One of my favorite things about ICP is watching how its DAO develops. I think your idea is a winner π

@patriciabusking00.bsky.social It is great to see such generosity to your community. Have you considered starting a trust and investing some of your winnings in Bitcoin through the trust? That way the trust will be able to continue to grow and you will be able to give money for a very long time.

This chain is a copy of an article by Cryptalo.icp.bitfinity on the 'other' social media outlet. This is by far one of the best compilations of the development of the Internet Computer I have read. If you are still a member of 'that' app, please look him up, like the original article and follow him.

The DFINITY Foundation, and the fast growing Internet Computer community, are focused on building-out a new web3 internet ecosystem, and eventually moving the vast majority of online systems and services onto the Internet Computer, replacing traditional IT that drives a blockchain singularity.

Smart contracts running on the Internet Computer can create transactions on other blockchains, and its capabilities are now being used to orchestrate multi-chain systems, and create user experiences and functionality for services running on other chains.

Projects running on the Internet Computer are unique in the blockchain industry, because they run entirely from the blockchain, without reliance on cloud computing and centralized traditional IT to function, as is required with other blockchains.

Thankfully, this situation is slowly clearing, and moreover, it did little to dent developer interest in the project. The IC now has thousands of developers building on the network, its developer community regularly clocks more "GitHub commits" than any other in the blockchain industry.

The attacks that were launched also substantially disrupted the markets for the Internet Computer network's ICP utility token, and led to misconceptions and disinformation about the project becoming widespread.

Video journalism exposing corruption in crypto
Investigative journalism at its best, sharing hard evidence, video footage, and intelligent analysis
The full scale of the attacks and corruption directed at the project is now slowly being exposed, including by investigative journalism efforts such as cryptoleaks.info.

At launch, the Internet Computer project faced a firestorm of attacks from other projects in the blockchain industry. The DFINITY Foundation, which is primarily a research and development organization, was ill-equipped to deal with the attacks, and was substantially disrupted for some time.

The IC runs on a sovereign network of dedicated hardware special node machines. A community of independent node providers had to be established, who would purchase or build these machines, and run them from data centers around the world. This was bootstrapped by the DFINITY Foundation.

The Internet Computer network is also adaptive, self-governing and self-updating, thanks to an advanced DAO called the Network Nervous System that runs within its protocols. It represents an enormous technical achievement.

2021 Dfinity Foundation paper, non-interactive distributed key generation and key resharing
To launch the Internet Computer, the R&D team had to implement protocols that would allow it to establish chain key cryptography material on nodes in a decentralized network setting.
