I'm not even going to say that you MUST speak up about censorship and related issues. But I AM saying that if you can't speak up for child protection or abuse prevention, just shut the fuck up about how angry you are kids keep getting hurt.

Here's what your actions say: "I don't want to stop future pedos from abusing. I don't care if I put children at risk. I don't care if I harm survivors and innocent bystanders. All I ACTUALLY want is a target I can hurt, and be praised for hurting."

So if you have been loudly furious about all of the Epstein revelations and calling for prosecutions and punishments, but silent as even the most tame kink artists are choked out by financial systems? Your actions speak louder than your words.

We have a similar length and weight of evidence that shaming people for merely having those compulsions even if they don't act on them makes it more likely they WILL act, because they feel they'll face the same hatred no matter what.

We have known for decades that access to fictional outlets where no real people are harmed is both useful to survivors healing AND a necessary part of preventing people with paraphilic compulsions from acting on them in the real world.

Speaking as (1) a CSA survivor who (2) has extensively researched the subject and (3) has spent years as a professional on child advocacy and abuse prevention? If you can't be bothered to push back against payment processor censorship, you have no right to be vocally pissed about Epstein.

This is a roundabout way of saying, "hot take incoming after I finish working with the social worker fiance to remove even the unintended hostility from it."

I am so endlessly happy with the education and professional track I took, but god damn has it made me less effective as a policy advocate. Even when I am TRYING not to come off as aggressive the rhetorical training leaks through and I come off passive aggressive or condescendingly intellectual.
