Adding that there are many folks outside of NIH whose names you will probably never know who quietly went about their tremendously important work and trained young scientists while fighting for NIH funding with one hand tied behind their back b/c the NIH refused to fix the Ginther gap.

Have you ever wondered πŸ€”... Does phenotypic variance respond to environmental perturbation? Does it have a genetic basis? Are mean and variance regulating loci exposed to different selection pressures? These and more questions are explored in our new preprint πŸ”₯

I was talking to Seth Moulton's staff about that this week with regard to the Burlington ICE office. One thing they said was that closing an existing facility is really hard but preventing a new one from opening is comparatively easier. We have to stop these camps now while we have the chance.

In unprecedented move, giant monkey research center may become a primate sanctuary University votes to consider ending all studies at Oregon National Primate Research Center. But cost and feasibility are still in doubt

Biomedical researchers are shocked by a seemingly sudden decision to consider converting one of the largest primate research centers in the U.S. into a monkey sanctuary. Costs could exceed $250 million, and it's unclear who would pay for it--and if its even possible. My latest for @science.org

ICE detained a 5-year-old Minnesota boy and used him as β€œbait” The preschooler is one of at least four children from the same school district who have been detained this month, according to school officials.

β€œAnother adult living in the home was outside and begged the agents to let him take care of the small child and was refused."

Instead, an agent β€œtook the child, and directed him to knock on the door asking to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home, essentially using a 5-year-old as bait.
