Compare this to before, when I used the wrong part of my inside leg to get him to yield over. He was trained to change leads when I did that and it was a mess. Unlike Kiwi who was never trained to do flying lead changes, Buck is a western champ and I confused him.
HG Sunday: new Icelandic horse at Therapy Stables is cute & follows me around. I sure hope they keep her 🤗 Then at my riding lesson I used my seat and leg training to ride all gaits on Buck w/ perfect command. It worked! No more weaving off the rail or changing leads. Feels good to git good. #horses
The parts of my art that received less attention were realistic animals & people, which I drew anyway, but pushing my skillset higher was furry commissions. As a result, I improved in all genres. Now my focus is on 4 legged beasts that you could show your grandma, so I hope you aren't disappointed.
Before I found furrydom in 1997, hardly anyone liked my anthro drawings yet I still churned them out. At last I had an audience & it spurred me to improve as an artist, so I have furry to thank for drawing as well as I do. I reached my peak ~2014, when I was drawing comics. All because of furries.
I stumbled across another video on furries (from an outsider's take) and they always focus on fursuits & autism, but no one ever talks about the art. My origin story is like that of all other artists- imagination & creativity were best received in the fandom, so I could fully express myself. #furry

I slayed the dragon of the IRS. In January I slayed other dragons, in February I slayed the DMV. But they aren't dead- just sleeping for another year. Or in the DMV's case, five years.

Horsegirl Wednesday: I now can clean all the stalls at Therapy Stables by myself without collapsing, & it helped that clouds blocked out the hateful sun. Stacy hurt her knee so it was just me and the animals, culminating in my matcha latte reward for hard work. This is my routine. #horses
My sister and I would draw cartoons in the bulletin.
First shingles shot: ended up in the E.R. after spiking a fever, passing out, and convulsions. They warned me to never get the second shot.
I love it.
Every little thing: how to tighten a cinch, how to pick up a hoof, the proper breast collar, how to back up, how to turn, how to correct shenanigans, how to emergency stop, how to sit, how to use spurs, how to collect, it's like another planet.
HG Tuesday: Sherry had me on Rue the mustang for a gorgeous trail ride, it was perfect weather. Some bicycles spooked the horses but we handled it. Rue tried to eat weeds but I handled that. I miss posting the trot, and we got to do that too. Still unlearning everything I was taught before. #horses
I remember reading that when it came out. Refreshingly different.
Baby is 27 and so the fastest we went was a sitting trot. She was SO EASY to ride, I just focused on seat and leg like Sherry would want. Don't lean back. Don't clench your thighs. Don't wobble. Hands in front of the saddle. Easy rein, no pulling. Three "buttons" for spur cues. Gentle.
Horsegirl Sunday: After farm chores at Therapy Stables, I had my riding lesson at the big arena. Different ranch. Linda recognized me from Therapy Stables, it turns out she volunteers there on Thursdays! Small world. I got to ride buckskin Baby, who is old & sweet and we did not go fast. #horses
My mornings there are on quiet days so I miss seeing the riding therapy. So much activity and so many volunteers! The horses all get out and used. Unfortunately the weather is stuck on Furnace Mode, so after 2.5 hours I left.
Horsegirl Saturday: Instead of riding today, I did more training at Therapy Stables before my usual farm chores. It was basic stuff like leading & grooming that I already knew, but this place is particular because of liability, so most of it was safety oriented. Love watching the lessons. #horses.
