As someone who watched the careful stewardship of grants over many years, the lack of care and the dismissal of the hard work of scholars and NEH program staff described here is devastating and shameful.

Probably not a good sign that it's only week 1 of March and I'm already over-relying on the 'snooze' function in my email inbox in my attempts to keep things from dropping off my radar.
Amberspire, our dice driven science fantasy city builder, will release MAY 6!
Roll dice, grow a city, forge alliances, interact with an ecology, and read a history of the future.
PC, Mac, Steam Deck - May 6!

"The power loom, as we know, is inevitable, preordained by God, who works His miracles through the hands of rich and wise inventors. Itβs foolish to resist it." π #DHMakes

A friend just shared this with me, and I'm SO excited to read it. Had to jump on here and share with my #DHmakes folks (ahem ahem @quinnanya.me @literaturegeek.bsky.social π) resistance.unstable.design
Gawain the green knight opening a letter sealed with wax
Little Alex Horne in his studio chair with the caption "so a simple task: land a fair blow anywhere on the green knight. One year later meet him at the green chapel, receive the same blow yourself."
A cut to a wider shot showing Greg Davies in his throne turning to Little Alex Horne subtitled "Well surely no one just ran up and whanged his head clean off."
Cut back to Little Alex Horne subtitled "Let's see Gawain first."
Looks like the original has been swept away by the sands of time.
I hadnβt heard of this and it looks AMAZING.
Timely β just saw this post yesterday. Havenβt explored it yet myself, but it looks promising! bsky.app/profile/sara...

In general you weave w much stronger yarn, and this is a weft-facing weave, meaning the warp yarn is hidden (or itβs supposed to be, anywayβ¦). This is on a loom that allows you to change color based on a series of switches, which broke my brain at first but is cool! And itβs reversible, too!
A wooden loom with a handwoven rug in progress, in shades of gray, blue, and brown.
Saturday #weaving update! Making progress on my first rug. Finally getting the hang of shaft-switching, starting on a checkerboard section. #DHmakes
Ok, hereβs a proof of the 2nd layer, which adapts a broadside published in April of 1854 to warn Black residents of Boston about slave-catchers in the city, following the passage of the Fugitive Slave Act www.nps.gov/articles/000...

A @zooniverse.bsky.social recap video from Douglass Day 2026, featuring footage from the in-person event at the University of Michigan library! Produced by our fantastic Adler Planetarium Manager of Creative Content, Meredith Stepien www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2U5...
@douglassday.bsky.social
Thousands of institutions abandoned programs, ended or rewrote scholarships, closed down clubs and publications, all in pre-emptive compliance.
And you know why?
Mostly because they wanted to do it if they thought they could blame someone else for it.
It seems to me that defining DH as purely quantitative methods is a neat way of shaving off all the hard-fought interventions made by people who were interested in making the field reflect the diversity and complexity of the actual world.
if you live in Chicago and you haven't been outside today this is an ORDER go out into the sunlight RIGHT NOW
Omg these are all so awesome
We are SO grateful for the work of @sifill.bsky.social. Thank you for joining #DouglassDay this year! The 14th amendment is the heart of our democracy and we must defend it--and defend and define its history collectively. profiles.howard.edu/sherrilyn-if...
The #DouglassDay livestream may be over (with 18,725 transcriptions/name IDs submitted so far!) but there are still PLENTY of documents to transcribe, and names to find! The project will stay active until everything is finished, so let's keep up the momentum!

A hand holds a "Douglass Day 2026" mini-zine with a portrait of Frederick Douglass and tips for designing quilt blocks.
A red quilt square with a heart in the US flag colors. It is split into "LOVE" and "HATE," surrounded by other colorful, patterned quilt blocks.
Last night we had a quilting workshop for Douglass Day
1. We made quilt squares!
2. We had 60+ students. Literally ran out of fabric?!
3. Can't wait to share our whole quilt on @douglassday.bsky.social!
Huge shoutout to my new colleagues in the UCSB Library for making it happen.
I wrote up the talk I gave at CESTA a couple weeks ago, on how we're overdue on changing the narrative about what digital humanities prepares students for. It's not fallback jobs in tech, it's getting involved in your community in moments of crisis. And craft helps build those skills. #DHmakes
