Where's that hard-hitting political and social commentary that got you banned by the right? I couldn't give a damn what you think about hip hop. Unless you step up and become relevant again I'll have to move my albeit meager financial support from NPR to PBS.

I realize that Survivor song isn’t called “I Love the Tiger” but that’s what I’m going with while singing around the house.

It changes the meaning to be about a guy who loves a tiger.

While I’m a bit sad not to get any more Antarctic and South American updates (so glamorous to take calls from exotic lands), I’m excited to get back to prepping for our upcoming album release!

this just in from new york city: we’re hearing that mayor mamdani just signed an executive order making it illegal to NOT stand at your window and fold your arms and say “wow, it’s really coming down out there”

Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate🧧

The last Year of the Fire Horse began in '66 & saw anti-war protests & civil rights struggle. It was the year Rev. Jackson left seminary to join Dr. King’s Freedom Movement.

May 2026 bring New York the same bold change people deserve.

If GenAI is so great why is none of it properly attributed to AI. Why are we having to play "Is this AI?" If you believe it's so great and necessary

This article cuts to the difficulties of sync / master clearances in music.

1) it takes a long time
2) there are often many entities to negotiate with
3) there are no set rates
4) it’s often trying to figure out how to make your request a priority
5) most people don’t understand music copyright

This was more her show. And the ensemble worked together so well. And man, David Comer might be my favorite theatre director (he floored me with my favorite production of at least the past decade, off-broadway’s “A Case for the Existence of God”)

It’s a play that really speaks to this particular time. Seeing it 20 years ago didn’t hit as hard or have as much meaning as now. (Also, I was younger and I just felt like Michael Shannon was chewing up the scenery, in a good way but it was *his* show.)

I saw Tracy Letts’s Bug off-Broadway when Michael Shannon was in it. And it’s so rare to see a Broadway revival version one-up its original predecessor, but tonight’s production of Bug on Broadway with Carrie Coons did just that.

they should make a movie series about how it’s irresponsible to use technology to mess with the natural order of things for profit

It’s always so weird that the Grammys mean nothing to me. I’m considered an honest-to-goodness music professional in many different areas, and still… I don’t care.

I was excited to see a familiar face on the Antarctic expedition blog. JM has been sending me pics/updates of his travels, but there are strict guidelines about what is allowed to be publicly shared. So I was excited to have something to show everyone!

This administration is stark raving mad, and it is controlled by men - Vance, Miller, Bovino - are all-but-publicly taking orders from neo-Nazis bent on violent removal of nonwhite Americans. The admin barely hides many of these links. And it is driving a campaign of ethnic violence in our country.

This song was on the radio and that required me to once again revisit the insane brilliance of Michel Gondry's 1999 video for it, in which he recreates 70s/80s analog video FX with meticulously staged choreography. Just in case anyone hasn't seen this gem from the peak music video era:
