Collage showing the cover arts of nine of my favourite games. From left to right, the games are: Strike Gunner S.T.G., The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Heaven`s Vault, 1000xResist, The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, Mass Effect Trilogy, Knights of the Old Republic II, Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Tried to strike a balance between 'formative' games & some of my recent darlings.

I thought three Fire Emblems (out of nine games) would be a tad too much. So 'Genealogy of the Holy War' stands for both Jugdral games.

As someone who works in a university, I am genuinely blown away by the number of people who want to exist in academia without having to think or write.

I make games about Irish history. Have one currently in the works (early prototype stage), and I'm currently applying for a grant to have a few more funded.

Just wondering if this is something Imirt would be interesting in hearing about, once they get polished enough for sharing.

Mรญle buรญochas! I'll be sure to check out!

A question: I've read in the link that games featuring "Irish Cultural Representation" meet the event's eligibility criteria. Does that extend to other activities organized by Imirt? Does the group showcase games about Ireland from non-Irish creators?

History: who the fuck?

Historiography: who asked "who the fuck" and why the fuck did they?

The British Museum photo shows a six-sided, cube-shaped die carved from rock crystal on a grey surface. The six sides are numbered one to six. The numbers are represented by circular incised markings, which comprise of a dark outer ring with a dark dot at the centre. Length: 9 - 13 millimetres, width: 9 - 13 millimetres. Display lighting casts a shadow beneath the die.

Timeless design!

Roman rock crystal gaming die marked one to six like modern dice ๐ŸŽฒ 1st-2nd century AD.

And Part I is here. If you're interested in the mechanics of historical games and how they represent different different levels, meta-levels, and models of history, I suspect you'll find our dialogoge quite interesting. @vinicius-marino.bsky.social plays 3D chess on these topics!

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, โ€œIโ€™m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.โ€

Synecdoche, New York

A depressing, bitter movie at the best of times.

But I happened to watch it during the early days of Covid, soon after a family member passed away.

"Never" is a very long time, but I can confidently say I'm not rewatching it anytime soon.

Every time you read the word โ€œtechnofeudalโ€ you have to read something by Peggy Brown. Doesnโ€™t matter what. Just read anything she published to compensate your brain for the violence of a stupid concept youโ€™ve been forced to assimilate with your eyes.

Also had chance to give the very first public demo of gameplay from 'Tales from the Mabinogion'!

There's a countertrend to that rule here in Brazil. Some people have taken to supporting Argentina as an Us-South-Americans-gotta-stick-together-against-former-colonial-powers kind of thing.

You can see a glimpse of that in the epilogue of The Two Popes, which was directed by a Brazilian.
