Reusability is my main concern. If I need to create a record with some unusual data that can not be easily reused (and I can not reuse/modify an existent record) then I create one record only for that test. The very moment I think I can reuse it in other places it becomes a fixture.
#Ruby is a dynamically typed language. All the efforts of adding types to a dynamically typed language are better invested into understanding dynamically typed languages so you don't need to add types to them because they don't need them. Specially when there are very good typed languages.

I'm old enough that I've deployed an application to production with every mayor #ruby on #rails version. And it's still a joy doing so. Actually the first one was called Oficina Inmobiliaria and it wasn't even Rails 1.0 yet. I had to compile ruby as cgi for apache. Those were the days...

I did a comparison between searches from #perplexity #ai and google search. It makes painfully obvious how broken and useless google search is today. Perplexity gives you useful results every single time.
I'm using Comet, the browser from @perplexitycomet.bsky.social and it's much more accurate at giving you search results than google is.
And you can ask things like: "List of 5 technical blogs about Ruby on Rails. Ignore those based on Medium". Just amazing.

Using the @diabrowser.com has been a huge improvement in my daily workflow. It has the right context about me and the searches are focused and to the point. It's a life-saver now that Google search has become a cesspool.

If the only value that you add to your company is given some specifications produce some code then you will be replaced by the #ai. If you understand your product, users and business model and you write code to improve that then the AI will help you but won't replace you.

Remember that if you use tools like claude code or gemini cli they can read your entire project file and that includes things like .env files, master.key, etc...
A simple fix would be that those tools read the .gitignore file and honor it.
