I saw Eraserhead at at the student union at UT Austin in ‘86. Midnight showing. A guy in the mostly empty theater was drunk and vomited on the floor. I could smell vomit for the duration of the movie. It actually felt appropriate, and maybe even the ideal way to engage with that movie.
As my mom was passing a few weeks ago, she was terrified. She felt like she hadn’t done enough for the kingdom. I was so angry at the C of C for robbing that peace from her.
I have this naive conviction that good words can save us.

I think "loopable" is the key word here. People hit "play" at bedtime and it loops over and over for the next 8 hours. The play count metrics are inflated compared to how we normally consume songs.

Growing up, church fetishized certainty. Which makes it so weird when as an adult you realize it’s really just the ultimate Rorschach test.
