I gotta say, it’s pretty fucking galling that my name was dragged through the mud for months because I pushed back on the idea that Joe Biden was corrupt only to have these dishonest chuckleheads hooting with approval now.
This morning, at Miller Station, as the outbound South Shore train arrived to whisk me and my bike to Dune Park, two stations and 12 minutes to the east, while a minimally-delayed inbound train departed from the opposite platform.
An underappreciated, unsung feature of spending time in Miller Beach (Gary), Indiana:
You can hear train “whistles” all day long, several an hour.
For anyone who grew up taking comfort from the sounds of passing trains, especially late at night and early in the morning, it’s heaven.
Our entire autocentric culture tells people they are dominant behind the wheel, automobiles support that and produce the literal vehicle to enact their worst impulses, and our legal system ensures that few pay any consequences for that.

I do! It reminds me of the 21 SF Bay Area winters I experienced. Would be happy to have this in lieu of the snow which we know is coming. As someone who bikes, it’s an adjustment from the last few months, but certainly not the worst case scenario.
