But then, a lot of the themes were very close to my heart and there were some WEIRD coincidences which paralleled stuff happening in my life so it felt more magical. Like, I just got diagnosed with cancer. In the car on the way to work on Wednesday morning, the song Float On by Modest Mouse came on shuffle and my partner and I were like shit, haven’t heard this in so long, and it was joyous. We went home and watched episode one of Small Prophets and loved it so much we binged the whole thing on Wednesday night. When he wore that Modest Mouse t-shirt and Float On came on, we were both just giddy and completely caught up in it. Made us emotional in the best way. It amplified the magical realism of it. What a weird coincidence which totally lifted our spirits.
