I’ll look at M Bloche’s thesis when I come home tomorrow evening. Could be a forgotten slash: 9/53 or 95/3.
I believe the numbers are extrapolated from the tables referred to in note 3 of the paper (see also the maps at the beginning).
There isn’t any reference in note 17. The numbers come certainly from a study (maybe an archaeological report?), is it not referred to in a previous footnote?
I think it stands for the undetermined part of fishing techniques evoked in the text: if you add up all % you should need this to go to 100%?
