I love Speckled Sussex so much, mine will come just cuddle on your lap if you let them.

Well, it has been a year and I’m still working on this. The whole project has changed so much since its inception but I’m having far too much fun with it. I’m considering sharing things but we’ll see when that happens at the pace I’ve been working at haha

I found a friend.

I saw a legitimate live grasshopper on my walk today and it was such a weird mix of excitement over a bug and dread that said bug can survive outside the week of the winter solstice. Nothing wrong here…

Starting on a new med that actually helps with chronic illness has got to be one of the best experiences. I feel l like you get parts of your life back you didn’t even realize you lost.

Genotypes (DNA variation) alone do not make a phenotype (how bodies look, function, behave).

Even if we reproduced an extinct genome, that animal doesn’t necessarily have the developmental context and learned culture of the extinct species

I woke up this morning and decided the best use of my time was overanalyzing the biogeography of Breath of the Wild… I’m in too deep what do I do with all this dark knowledge? Why is this how I choose to use my education?

It’s been a… time the last couple of weeks, but I’ve been distracting myself by learning Mandolin and that’s been super fun. In the meantime, have a break from the dumpster fire in the form of a cute lil’ spider

Thinking about sunshine and milkweed beetles— someday the snow will melt and I’ll have small friends again but for now I’ll look through my pictures.

I have become the person who learns there’s an endemic spider near where I live and wants to go on a trip specifically to look for it. Why must I learn this in the winter I want to go look for spiders now.

Hover flies don’t get the love they deserve— they’re such under-appreciated pollinators. Also they’re just very cool and I like how they fly lol

Ambush bugs are a type of assassin bug! They’re usually pretty distinct because of their chunky front legs and the fact you usually find them sitting on flowers waiting to ambush pollinators. Suuper cool little dudes
