Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #MixedPairs, photos with pairs of different bird species
Alt theme is #Finches, any of the Finch species.
Hey, I've got a twofer for this one!
I think these ring-necked ducks in our local pond yesterday afternoon probably work for the #BirdOfTheDay theme of #SideView.
The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #PerfectLighting. I may or may not have taken this picture at a zoo (I know it was captured in Florida). But regardless, I've always loved the light in this one.
I saw earlier that the #BirdOfTheDay is #FourOrMore. At first I wasn't planning to participate. But then as I was going through a portable hard drive I came across I found this shot of four Gambrel's Quail.
Seems like I have not choice now.
I was going through some older images in my archive and was already looking at this image of an American Kestrel here in the southeast Arizona desert. I think it fits the #BirdOfTheDay theme of #BirdsInTheirElement
I almost didn't edit this picture of a chirping sparrow that I took down by the river yesterday. But since it's very much a #BirdOnABranch, I suppose this is now my #BirdOfTheDay contribution.
I photographed a different kind of "bird" last night.
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #CollectingFood, birds with food in their beaks.
Acorn Woodpecker, Huachuca Canyon, Arizona - Dec 2025.
We went to a star party at Oracle State Park last night and captured a few images of the night sky: www.tmpic.com/p/pixel-astr...

Actually, we were at the monastery, so maybe we would have had better luck if we'd gone to the bird sanctuary.
That's great that he decided to show off for you like that. We were down there a year or two ago, found some feathers on the ground, but no males displaying their feathers.
I kind of understand why they didn't crowd around. Back in November we went to the Salt River and my girlfriend pointed out a "cool bird over on that tree". I almost didn't even take a picture because it was "just another great blue heron"
How dumb was that?
Thanks, Brian
Thanks Rob
Todayβs #BirdOfTheDay theme: #OddCouples , two different birds in one capture. I think this vermilion flycatcher and swamp sparrow qualify.
This is incredibly cool β A source familiar with Bad Bunnyβs performance tonight tells me that the couple in the halftime show got married for real. They invited Bad Bunny to their wedding and in turn he invited them to get married during his performance.

I'm old, so I usually skip the Super Bowl halftime show. But kind of glad I watched this one. Bad Bunny put on a good performance, even if I didn't understand all the words.
Watching the super bowl with teenage boys. Not surprisingly, this was our favorite ad so far.
Thanks Alan
The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #posted a bird on a post or fence. I think this picture of a Say's Phoebe I took yesterday fits. Even if it is sharing the post with an anemometer.
This post explains a little bit about why, although I have thoughts and opinions on many subjects, you're likely to only Very Rarely hear about them, here, or on any other online platform.
Thanks Brian
Yikes
Thanks Alan
That's a cool little bird. I think I'd be happy to have a few of those land in my backyard on a regular basis.
Nice!
Yes, Florida is awesome for birds. There's a little pond just around the corner from my mom's house where I always run into at least I few birds I'm unlikely to see frequently here in Arizona.
Thanks Rob. It probably helps to live in a place where I could walk out back with my camera without even stopping to put on a jacket first.
I decided to stay home sick, then I saw that the #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BackYardBirds, so of course I took my camera out there to see what might show up. This Verdin was there a few minutes later. I also used a B&W version of this image for my daily post on by blog www.tmpic.com/p/backyard-b...
