#155 - #156 - #157. The fires of the Cyndaquil line grow bluer and stronger as it evolves. When closer to evolving, Cyndaquils and Quilavas will dig new burrows uninterrupted until it can accomodate their new stage.

i understand the function of artstation but ultimately a portfolio is an easy thing to build yourself. i can code a very simple site that provides all portfolio functions. what i want is community and community that gives feedback and interacts and comes back

i feel like the reason i dropped off cara really quickly is that it was much more of an artstation replacement than a deviantart replacement, and the former is much less appealing than the latter to me.

forgot to post this but im working on a mika lineup for her zodiac forms #sketchbook because its a big wip lol

the swap to 3d also changed how pokemon are designed. The designers no longer have to worry about having a limited space (two sprites) to cram all the quirks they want, they have a bunch of animations to spread things accross, and refusing to look at ant of it is just kinda stupid lol

idk how to phrase this without sounding like a dick but I think some people are still stuck in pokemons 2d era. New designs were made to be seen as animated whole — running, attacking, idling — and not as a front and back static sprite.

the models are really fun. the animations i find a bit too long and meandering, which is fine for stadium since it was mostly a pvp thing with a bit of single player but for the colo series it def dragged on too much

and its not like quadrupedal = doomed to be boring, more so that people dont just want a quad design they want a very generic progression that just isnt really found in starters anymore since like... gen 3? the era of x but bigger died in gen 2!

its weird bc a lot of the "redesigns" and general predictions are like... well i hate to be mean but they look like the route 1 mammal. sometimes a mid game mammal guy. they just dont feel like starters

i like gen 2 sprites a lot but overall 3d models have expanded the design philosophy a lot more and i think it just has a lot more avenues for animation and expression that can realistically keep up with 1000+ creatures

i rhink my hottest pokemon take is that i prefer 3d models over the sprite era

as long as the designs are cool idc

pombon has to stand up or else we'll have arcanine at home

i think i like them

i love our new starters a lot
