Baseball is my comfort food todayπ’
I'm sharing it here with anyone else who needs nutrition for the soul.
Everything right now absolutely DOES need exactly that.
Trump/Epstein Files. Epstein's War. History will do the branding now.
Even little league volunteer umpires receive intensive training and constant evals before they ever take the field, yet they still wind up being cursed at & disrespected by unappreciative coaches and parents who feel entitled to abuse them.
BE NICE TO UMPIRES!

Riley Gaines is a sore loser with a chip on her shoulder the size of an iceberg who thinks she and her husband should be immune from the horrors inflicted on other legal immigrants who, just like her husband, "did everything the right way," yet still somehow got detained, beaten, or murdered by ICE.
Some people are more outraged at our Olympic athletes expressing conflicted feelings about representing the United States than they are about why the athletes feel that way. This is one reason why. I feel sick thinking this is what "USA" represents to the rest of the world now: cruelty and horror.
Happy birthday to one of my favorite poets, Edna St. Vincent Millay.
Something about her bohemian lifestyle and unique education and upbringing has always fascinated me, and her poems touch my soul in a profound way I can't quite explain. Here's one of them, "What Lips My Lips Have Kissed."
Hi Orlek
Something for you to think about to help disperse the dread
Cherish every moment with her! She is not afraid, and neither should you be.

They "must apologize"? Why? You expect them to be contrite & see the error of their ways?
As always, it will be the women who suffer the invisible wounds inflicted by the men's disrespect toward them. Apologizing won't let those players off the hook; why would they bother? Dream on.

I think you conflate brainlessness with ambivalence; Couton has bigger issues on his mind. The brothers will choose for him, so crisis averted. (It will probably wind up being some sort of mΓ©nage Γ trois, please keep us posted.)
The sounds of people laughing and snowplows clearing the streets is music to my ears, Yaro. A lovely moment captured by your camera to remind us that not all is chaos and misery. There are still reasons to be happy and hopeful.
I wish the same for you, Rachel. And the day after that and the day after that too.
How hard am I weeping watching this right now
Slava Ukraini and all those fallen heroes, who will not be forgotten.
So true, Darren, and I say that as an American completely mortified by the behavior of the men's team. Kudos to you and your countrymen and -women for having the grace Team USA did not, to congratulate your opponents and hold your heads high.
It all looks so normal and unremarkable
Thank you for showing the sun shining upon your beautiful Kyiv, Yaro. Your courage and powers of description inspire me.
What a grand gesture, Flav! Hope some sponsors step up and help you make this happen for the awesome women of Team USA.
The noisy background of current events has muted the news of Bill Mazeroski's recent death. He enjoyed a solid career as a gold glove infielder who was seldom spectacular but always stellar, and what he did in the 1960WS secured his place in the baseball firmament.

A lot of blood, sweat, time, and tears made this possible. Viewers, sponsors, and WNBA fans, give yourselves a huge pat on the back!
WOMEN'S SPORTS DRAW LOYAL AUDIENCES. WOMEN'S SPORTS GENERATE MONEY!!!
That must be an awesome feeling, seeing your book randomly displayed behind some dude doing a zoom. Hell, I'VE got goosebumps seeing it!
You're already telling the story, and many of us are listening with horror, confusion, and respect for your resilience, Yaro.
