In an age of AI bots that attack our open infrastructure, we also need to discuss whether papering over the gaps with industrial grade website scraping is appropriate or sustainable.

We've just released the Australian National Persistent Identifier (PID) Benchmarking Toolkit for consultation. Next we will be extending the report with worked benchmarking examples, and we'd love your feedback. Is the toolkit likely to meet Australia's needs? Does it focus on the right identifiers?

What is AI’s impact on paper mill production? Using the example of a single paper mill with 200+ papers, we can see a significant increase in 2024. There is clear evidence of ChatGPT use: a large number of short sections, bullet points, and AI-typical literature review.
