Thanks Olaya! Hope all is well for you in Toulouse. Will you be at #ESCMID26 in Munich? Would be great to catch up on Kleb panel plasmids and more.

Cumulative cgMLST : Our novel preprint is out @biorxiv doi.org/10.1101/2025...
Implications: We argue that convergent isolates, which emerged globally through the last decade, represent a distinct evolutionary state optimized for transmission rather than systemic invasion. Big thanks to our amazing team and collaborators from all around the globe!
Key findings: Convergence follows preferred, constrained evolutionary paths. The dominant route involves acquiring conjugative IncFIB(Mar)/IncHI1B plasmids with incomplete virulence genes. Iron-scavenging (aerobactin) was the universal trait of convergence β not hypervirulence (Thanks Russo Lab!).
New preprint out! Anjali Sapre, Melissa Martin and co. mapped the evolutionary routes of convergence in K pneumo. Pop analysis of >1,400 global genomes & 7,500 closed plasmids to see how #AMR & virulence genes come together and impact phenotypes. www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-8...

@ICARe_AMR has a great atmosphere and location @LesPensieres , with a unique faculty and a special session on #AMR #genomics with FranΓ§ois Lebreton @flebreton.bsky.social and myself β great opportunities for networking and scientific discussions
New postdoc position in our lab (2 y+): evolutionary genomics of integrons and MGEs with focus on vibrio-phage interactions. Great environment @pasteur.fr for science, career building. Super collaborators @celineloot.bsky.social @amazeld.bsky.social @fredoleroux.bsky.social 3 weeks to apply!
Thanks Willem! Any chance you are at #ESCMID2025?
