SJC rules charter schools must comply with public records law - The Boston Globe The court concluded that charter schools qualify as government entities under the law because they perform a core public function and operate with taxpayer funding.

Glad to see. If charter school argue that they are public schools, then they should follow the same rules.

If Ohio desperately wanted to create ten jobs with $45m, they could invest (if my math's right) $140,625 per employee for the entire 32-year careers of ten state employees.

Police chases are so deadly. I have done multiple stories on the tactic in SWPA. Many departments ban them entirely but are reluctant to make that public info because they say the threat of a chase is a deterrent for suspects.

A police chase in SWPA killed an entire family several years ago.

Here's a chart showing who funds basic research in the US. It's easy to tell that private funding cannot make up for significant cuts to government funding.

Opinion | The No. 1 item food stamps buy is a travesty. Now states can say no. States are empowered to block taxpayer funds from being used on junk food.

I understand–even agree!–that funneling SNAP money directly to Coke and Pepsi is not in the public interest.

However, I will not sit here with my five daily Diet Mountain Dews and allow the WaPo ed board to call my lifestyle a "travesty."
