that place is amazing. the fresh salsas are so good
this is glorious
I get rolling eyes at outside commentators for their surprise, and I agree that MN exceptionalism is unhelpful, but I'm not sure what it accomplishes to take Minnesotans to task for... appreciating that other people are noticing?
strongest possible endorsement
thank you from powderhorn, I did in fact go from 0-100 this morning and this helped a lot

this sounds like the plot of a @pushtheroll.com arc
a special bookend (heh) to a reading year that started with Everything for Everyone: Everything for Everyone: An Oral History of the New York Commune, 2052–2072. both books for anyone who could use some sustenance for the journey onwards, whatever that journey may look like.
this collection and this conversation reminded me that I'm as sure of that as I am of anything, even when I have such a hard time holding onto it in the midst of all the nonfictional horrors.
near the end of the interview Annalee says "I would love to see more people thinking of fiction not just as an escape, but as a tool... Fiction has this really vital political role in our lives."
truly a joy to discuss We Will Rise Again: Speculative Stories and Essays on Protest, Resistance, and Hope with @annaleen.bsky.social @older.bsky.social @drkarenlord.bsky.social for my first-ever interview on @kfai.org's Write On! Radio kfai.org/we-will-rise...
This is what makes Frey a conservative. He sees a slippery slope down instead of a hand up.
done!
I'd love to interview you for Write On! Radio, the books podcast/radio show out of KFAI in Minneapolis! just starting on the show but will be on the spec fic/sci fi/fantasy beat. also: an actual play would rule. new frontier of book trailers??
listening to Behind the Bastards this morning and learned that at least one Manhatten Project scientist had read a 1914 H.G. Wells novel involving speculative atomic weapons. longtime occupational hazard for spec fic writers apparently
hi!! amazing, sent you a DM
yes! exactly what I'm looking for. thank you!
Recommendations for new or upcoming speculative fiction/sci fi/horror/paranormal works, in general but especially by Minnesota authors, or presses that publish in these genres? I'm joining @kfai.org's venerable literary interview show, Write On! Radio, and starting to build a wishlist of guests 📚🎙️📻
appreciate it!! another audio friend recommended a YouTube tutorial series, but written resources are even better for me so this is great. I've been enjoying learning from the Obsidian user cult so that sounds fine to me 😄
do you like Reaper/would you recommend it to someone brand new to DAWs (and mostly interested in interviews and actual play)?
I had a burger from Lowbrow for the first time recently and it ruled

when there's enough trust at the table for players to make big, risky choices that change the course of the story, and then we all get to see how they play out
Three books from Button Poetry: A Love Song A Death Rattle A Battle Cry by Kyle "Guante" Tran Myhre (joining Not a Lot of Reasons To Sing But Enough on my shelf - also bonus activism 101 zone bundle), You Better Be Lightning by Andrea Gibson, Shapeshifter by L.E. Bowman
Antifa Splatterpunk, an antifascist horror collection from Cursed Morsels Press
Blue and white bookmark from CityCast Twin Cities, a new daily podcast and newsletter, with a line art outline of the Minneapolis and St Paul skylines
first time at the Twin Cities Book Fest highlights!! 📚
1. met @guante.info at @buttonpoetry.bsky.social, we figured out he knows my high school theatre director
2. learned about @cursedmorsels.bsky.social
3. said hi to Sean McPherson of @citycasttwincities.bsky.social
done! happy early birthday, excited to read this book :)
there's a virtual 101 on 11/22! actionnetwork.org/events/tcdsa-101-13
great stories in From Here to Eternity: Traveling the World to Find the Good Death by Caitlin Doughty
@uepodca.st season one has some very non-cozy Ghibli vibes. the bonus arc Small Gods Scatter, which just won Best Actual Play Podcast at Sydney Web Fest, is a good intro. deeply connected to the rest of the story but also works as a standalone
At the Ward 8 for a New Mayor rally last Saturday, Commissioner Angela Conley said the county's been trying to work with the mayor on homelessness for seven years and he's shut them out.
