I was walking our dog and was startled by three raccoons chasing one another in a line from yard to yard. Only the first one was squealing but it must have been some pursuit because as they charged right at us the last one fell down a snow bank < 3 feet before me, it was visibly exhausted.

Did you say you don't like hot peppers? I'm working on making rigs in blender. It always seems like a puzzle to figure out. In other words I'm not great at it yet but I can grow peppers that will tell you to f off.

Yes, the next pot is 16 oz cups but because the soil blocks are compact when they hit loose soil of the cups they grow fast, so we up-pot often, 32 oz and then some times 1 gallon nursery pots. The air pruning with soil blocks is fascinating to learn about but we only use it to get started.
I was doing a crude seed viability test. I didn't count just throw and grow but they did all I need them to. The seeds were collected from a multitude of varieties we had outdoor last year. They all popped, seem vigorous and grew true to parent.
The only thing better than good free food is good homegrown free food. I would turn my house into a garden if I could.

I don't need much more than 1 gallon pots for lettuce to produce indoors. Some will make it outdoors but I'm staggering them with a new batch every 2 weeks or so. It's mostly a testing tent so the lettuce is testing well. 🌱 #gardening

The orange lines are the places i was considering for new garden placement before my salty revelation
I'm pretty sure we have a solution with gypsum, new mulch on top, heavy watering in spring and we unknowingly planted salt “tolerant” vegetables there in the past but it must have an impact. I have had those gardens there for years and never even considered salt as an issue. (4/4)
We usually fill that part of the driveway with 30 gallon pots, which brings its own issues but at least they don't get salted. I have thought about removing that part of the driveway to make more gardens but the front ones will get salted too. (3/4)
To make matters worse a few days later a giant snow blower came and while it was clearing the streets I watched in dismay as a salt concoction was spewed all over the front and middle three sisters gardens and the front of the shipwreck garden. yes, we name our gardens (2/4)

If snow wasn't terrible enough for gardening the salty pleasures it brings sure are. I was outside contemplating garden expansion ideas when I watched a plow drive past covering my front beds in a salt slush slurry. I never even considered it before. (1/4)🌱 #gardening

2 liter bottles set up with sand in them at the end of the hallway for bowling
Bowling in the hallway is a must. I crash tested with 2L bottles filled with a cup of sand each (worked best after multiple trials), a kick ball and plywood to protect the walls. This is a prototype but it worked excellent. If you can think of games that would work im...game.
