Another day, another mesonet site install in progress. Site 14 going up near Farmerville, LA at Union Parish Airport.
And that’s it. Got to see the fire racing to the lake and ended the day with some KH waves.
The NASA folks seemed very happy with the mission. Seems like everyone collected a good dataset.
Out with the UAH crew scouting sites in the Geneva State Forest. There are worse places to do field observations.
They’re burning the 600 acres across the lake.

Louisiana mesonet station in Plain Dealing, LA
As you should
Louisiana Mesonet site 1 is almost ready…. It’s hot.
3-ft by 3-ft by 4-ft concrete pad with an anchor bolt template in the middle. The foundation will support a 10-m (or 30-ft) tower with weather monitoring instruments installed along the tower.
This may look like just a small concrete pad with some anchor bolts in it, but in reality this is the next big step after about 12 months of leg work and prep on our state mesonet project. First 30-ft weather tower goes up Monday, 49 to go across Louisiana.
