🚨 BREAKING: Kuwait has reduced oil production and refining throughput as tensions rise in the Gulf, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) announced, citing risks linked to Iran and threats to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. KPC added the reduction will be reviewed as the situation develops and production can be restored once conditions allow. The state oil company stressed that Kuwait’s domestic energy needs remain fully secured under existing plans. Kuwait is a small, oil-rich monarchy in the Arabian Gulf with one of the world’s highest GDPs per capita, heavily dependent on petroleum exports that account for the vast majority of government revenue. According to JPMorgan, Kuwait would exhaust its oil and fuel storage in about 14 days if the Strait of Hormuz were closed—making it the second most exposed producer after Iraq (6 days) and far more vulnerable than Saudi Arabia, which could last up to 65 days if alternative export routes are used.
