I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.
I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

I am so full of admiration for Charlotte Nichols’ courage in talking about this - particularly awful that as a woman in public life she will have had to consider first how people might use this information against her, especially online. Hope she has all the support she needs.

The President of the USA is now openly threatening Iran with being the target of one of the greatest crimes in world history. Trump is saying he will destroy the basis of life for more than 90 million people.
He should be removed from office for this.
This was the point Starmer implied in his answer to Badenoch on this at last PMQs. My sense is that she & others have the idea (if so, an especially strange one for a Conservative) that NS oil is 'ours' and that, as such, UK consumers have first dibs on it at a price capped by the government.

Very interesting how out of line the r/w media are on this, given their pretensions to know their readers. I was struck by responses to a very gung-ho piece in the Mail over the weekend where, at a rough guess, 75% or so of them were very resistant to the article's line.

Their prospectus would be a lot more plausible and appealing if they hadn't spent their time in power dismantling the basic norms of social cohesion.

Experiencing it, even when it is contrived to be relatively benign and even when you think you can imagine what it might be like, is a deeply sobering thing.
Even then a mission statement that includes only ”destroy” has to tell you something.
If this is actually the new set of strategic goals, the Trump administration is admitting that they have strategically failed and this has been a disaster.
