How much weight does Nadeauβs endorsement of Rashida carry? Am I underestimating Terry Lynchβs support because Iβm not 75? Am I overestimating Aparnaβs support because I walk by Suns Cinema every day? How strong is the Latino turnout for Jackie (or Miguel)? Does yard sign density matter?!?
Suuuuper curious to see how this election goes, it feels relatively split because 4 of the 5 have pretty well-defined voting blocs while Miguel feels like he could get a ton of 2nd place votes
As of now probably going Miguel, Aparna, and Rashida as the three I rank in that order but thatβs not set in stone
I was honestly pretty split going into the forum but Iβm leaning @miguelward1.bsky.social because Iβll vote for anyone who identifies as a Christina Henderson fan. I love that CH always seems like the smartest person in the room and is at heart a policy wonkβ¦I get that same vibe from Miguel
Aparna and Miguel were definitely the most willing to get into the weeds on policy which I loved. Reaffirmed my decision that theyβre 1-2 in either order for me
β¦well versed in, I didnβt feel like she was a great public speaker tonight. That, combined with not having a detailed issues page on her website, makes it hard for me to know where she stands in the nuances between the three progressive candidates (Rashida, Aparna, Miguel)
Rashida Brown has a really strong track record and I was impressed by her GGW questionnaire answers. She also collected signatures at the mt p farmers market on a brutally cold morning a couple weeks ago. But with the first exception of child care policy which she is super confident andβ¦.
I deeply respect Jackie Reyes Yanesβ commitment to being a champion for the Latin community. Unfortunately she is not a champion for transit or new housing which became very clear throughout the night.
Terry Lynch really knows how to play a crowd, like a benevolent Curtis Sliwa? Love that he wants to deliver 5000 new housing units while only being willing to upzone Georgia Ave and 14th st (begrudgingly)
Jett Jasper is a real person! Some of my favorite moments from him were βmetro subwayβ, βive personally broken up fist fights on the busβ, running for βchairβ or maybe βcommissionβ?, definitely has no idea where Amigos Park is. Still somehow more pro-bike lane than Jackie or Terry!
A great time at the Ward 1 candidate forum! A couple takes in no particular order:
cool to see a guy who was living in Buzzards Point in August 2025 running for Ward 1 councilmember, glad someone is taking the crown from Trayon White
when you're a "people person" but finding roommates is an inconvenience
seems like the first few months are going well!
doubt
using @zacharyammerman.com's work without asking for permission (assumed) or providing credit definitely tracks for a right-wing grifter
oof
third-string DII quarterback-looking ass Jett Jasper wearing a sash made of Ward 1 neighborhoods in the most nonsense locations possible...its AI if that wasn't clear
you simply can't publish this map and think you're going to get elected
how is Terry Lynch's campaign sign map only the second-most inaccurate map of Ward 1??
just learned that there's a sixth candidate for Ward 1 I didn't know about and I'm obsessed (pejorative)

Bus riders know who respects their dignity π€
I had been open-minded about the power of Xenu and the coming armageddon of the Galactic Confederacy but window wraps are the final straw
The L st flex posts and concrete barriers have been removed since the snow storm. I assumed it was to allow for plowing and DDOT (Bowser) is dragging its feet on restoring the protection
He also only talked about buses in a different question about cycling and micromobility (Q50) so I think itβs an intentional omission
People be like βwe could never do congestion pricing, DC isnβt NYCβ and then act like itβs normal for K st to turn into a parking lot
any time thereβs any sort of disruption downtown
L st pretty much looks like this every day now
L St bike lane with concrete barriers removed
What are the odds Bowser drags her feet on restoring protection to downtown bike lanes out of spite? You know, so delivery trucks can access the curb and arenβt interfering with traffic flow which helps downtown recover or something like that
For @ggwash.org, I explored what a "Zohran for DC" mayoral campaign would look like on housing.
The old political coalitions are breaking. Now is the time for the left-YIMBY candidate.

Iβm assuming road conditions or some extenuating circumstance is to blame but this is some ELITE bus bunching - 3 C61s in a row! Theyβre supposed to run every 12 minutes!
This is something I looked at a couple months ago but you can see that CaBi undocked e-bike ridership dropped off a cliff after the price hike in August which also suggests a shift towards other providers
