Agreed. I just wish a viable alternative would appear. I don't like any of the current possibilities and, anyway, they have made no effort to campaign in "DA" areas and offer real change. The first decent party that does might be surprised to see the support is an imposed default, not a preference.

Well this is the interesting question about all these properties. The mayor had said that some of the smaller ones are going because they are too small to be converted to affordable housing projects, which leaves all sorts of questions about the people who had lived there etc etc etc and what's next

I was one of the people who lodged an objection to the sale, although the city never even acknowledged my submission, and one of my arguments was that the people of Cape Town need a mid sized venue where we can hold community events because everything else is too expensive and/or inaccessible.
ICYMI: Not only did the City Of Cape Town auction off the Good Hope Centre, an important piece of architecture and heritage owned by the PEOPLE of Cape Town, but it looks like the winning bidder may have been a Nigerian megachurch grifter:
