One eye full of tears, love, pain, and recognition- the other filled with rage and piercing fixation. The background full of abstract shapes and colors, a checkerboard pattern on both sides. Reflecting the race to “get there first” and the one sided game of hyper-vigilance- represented by the checkerboard. The piece as a whole resembles a playing card, the heart seen in the corners, adding to the idea that everything feels like I need to “play my cards right.” Also something my mother used to say all the time. Overall, a piece on self destruction and love.
