Has always been a fave and I got to see the painting 3 summers ago.
A historian colleague of mine once blew someoneβs mind after he asked βcanβt you just look that up online?β and she replied βwho do you think finds that stuff and puts it online?β
This entire thread is gold and exactly why I abandoned every leftist group I've ever encountered. A staggering number of leftist men are just narcissist weenies cosplaying as tough guys and don't have an organizing bone in your bodies yet wonder why all your grandiose plans go to shit every time.
AI, TPT, corporate intervention programs, kitchen-sink-scripted curriculums, and state-approved reading lists are trying to "teacher-proof" education to protect an ugly status quo.
Designing learning with love, intention, strategy and equity is one of our most powerful forms of resistance.

Beautiful.
Can't imagine I'd be smiling like that if one of my teens was suicidal, but that's just me.
Came here to say this. R word is auto block for me.
Right now it should be absolutely clear why Canadians didn't travel to Minneapolis to watch IIHF World Junior hockey. That is why the stands weren't full.
Same.
Living off the allowance my father settled on me when I married a vicar? No thanks. Lol
What about the human in the loop? Oh, they're uncritically believing what gets returned at the top of a search? Who could have predicted...

It's especially rich when we tell students with little subject knowledge to double check what AI is feeding them. π€¦ββοΈπ€·ββοΈ
He could theoretically lead the Liberal party again. We don't have term limits but highly unlikely.
I didn't read R&J until Grade 11. No Shakespeare before then. Absolutely no justification for it if we're delivering the new curriculum in my district.
It continues to be a fantasy of mine to provide a scene from one of the lesser studied plays to colleagues and ask for their insights after one cold read. We are often just passing along a shortened version of our university notes and calling it teaching.
βWhat would we do with a human who was running around acting like a suicide coach? Or pretending to be a therapist when theyβre not? How would we hold *them* accountable?β

View of Lake Ontario across a two lane road. Murney Tower on the left. Canopy of trees across the top.
In Kingston last week.
There should be mandatory Terminator movie screenings for all these AI obsessives. SkyNet is watching!!!!
Inspired by @marcwatkins.bsky.social and wanting to share his piece with my newsletter subscribers, I put my two cents in. open.substack.com/pub/engagede...
The reason a lot of white people can operate in the privilege of a comment like βwe used to be able to have dissenting opinions & now they break friendshipsβ is because the people of color in the room had to be silent in order to remain in the room safely.
So much variability in the job. Students change, administrators change, curriculum changes. I'm teaching a course again for the first time in 8 years and feel like a fumbly new teacher sometimes.
