I have three books going to print in the next three weeks screaming and crying
But yes really slow. Dom Hooey, Khadro Mohamed and a couple of commercial fiction from Moa Press. Catherine Chidgey has one forthcoming.
PRHNZ had a commissioning freeze when they had their last restructure (when they got rid of their fiction publisher) so that’s part of it. I’m publishing ‘Hoods Landing’ by Laura Vincent in October and Airana Ngawera has ‘The Last Living Cannibal’ out in October too I think
selling at zinefest all day today if anyone is coming by—up on the mezzanine

I can’t spend money on this game right now you guys, 🅱️lease
460 folks live in the town of Urenui, pretty bold move imo
my dad is randomly using te reo in his messages to me these days 🥲😤🥲😤🥲😤
I’ll leave it until the final draft and do it all invisibly so he never notices lol
when u open the essay to edit and they’ve hit the double space at the end of each sentence
also, in Overseas Experience you have to turn the book landscape halfway through which is pretty cool but also a nightmare to check
Where does Āke, ake, ake go my dude
I love that we are publishing a poetry collection that features so much te reo but I also hate that I have to be responsible for checking it all. Te Aka u the realest one.
I’ll be in kōrero with @understatesmen.bsky.social on Saturday 7 June from 2:00pm at Auckland Central City Library, talking about her new short story ‘The Whistle of Wind Through Feathers and Dogskin’ and more as part of our science-fiction ‘Other Worlds Day’.

Āporo Press's next publication, Overseas Experience by Nicola Andrews, will be released in mere weeks! We've been contacting libraries and bookstores to stock it, but if you'd like to help, requesting it at your local does a world of good for indie presses.

Is the man in jorts and a checkered collared shirt in my gym doing okay?
Melbourne Writers Festival into Auckland Writers Festival I’m pretty worn out and I didn’t even have to do anything but attend. Writers running the gauntlet of festivals must be exhausted.
I watched a lotttt of international gay films in four parts on sketchy websites as a teen. Would love to hear thoughts in that realm lol North Sea Texas comes to mind immediately
Oh I retract, I forgot it’s “top ten”
@amamelia.bsky.social catching up on the Please watch Brazil cinema episode and no ‘The Way He Looks’? Feels like the first film from there I watched but hey, it’s been a while so maybe it’s bad
okay lit losers who’s in Auckland for the fest and wants to catch up
Adding ‘Labubu’ to my style sheet for this upcoming book
Closing tonight (Sunday!!!)
