Specialist Operations centre, watching Taser training, visiting the armoury, specialist collision investigation team, our drone & firearms teams. I also visited the dog section & a rather scary furry friend.

It is with great sadness I share this update about the Gloucestershire Constabulary family following a fatal fire in Stroud. It has been a truly heartbreaking few days and we are sending all our love to our colleague.

Great to talk to our @glos-police.bsky.social cadets this evening about Non contact sexual offences & the @ThamesVP 'it does matter' campaign, our work with the Internet Watch Foundation on sharing of indecent images & the work I'm doing with @ruthweir.bsky.social on Teenage Relationship Abuse.
Today I had the privilege of representing @glos-police.bsky.social at the UK Police Memorial tribute to the 300 men & women from policing who died protecting the home front during the Second World War.

This afternoon I visited Stow on the Wold, part of the Cotswold & Stroud local policing area of Gloucestershire Constabulary.
It was lovely to meet PC Alison Palfrey who retires next week after 30 years service with the force. Thank you Alison for your service & enjoy your well deserved retirement!

Good to meet the newly elected panel with Chief Constable Maggie Blyth & set out the national policing threats & local issues in the county.

We then heard from the brilliant Meena Kumari & Savita V. about their work with the community in Leicestershire.
Then Candice Walker from the Home Office & Kara Kane from the Cabinet Office talked about possible government next steps to prevent this ever increasing problem.
Today was our 3rd national roundtable looking at teenage relationship abuse, also known as adolescent domestic abuse.

Got a copy of the 2nd edition of an Introduction to Professional Policing today. Delighted to have a chapter on Policing vulnerability attrition, rape & domestic abuse with the brilliant Professor Emma Williams & Dr. Jennifer Norman.

It was particularly poignant to have Micala & Lee Trussler with us, the parents of 15 year old Holly Newton who was horrendously murdered by her boyfriend.
Great day out on foot patrol in and around Barton Street, Gloucester yesterday with Sergeant Bee Chant.
We visited schools, mosques, local shops & talked to so many members of the community.

Today was Staff Networks Day & it was great to see colleagues from across @glos-police.bsky.social meet with our networks at HQ.
I popped down this afternoon to meet the Women's Support Network, Unison, LGBTQ+ network, neurodiversity network, Gloucestershire Ethnic Minority Association & He4She.
Chief Constable Blyth & I are meeting with all Sgts & first line managers in @glos-police.bsky.social to talk through our plans. It's been great to have honest conversations about finance, culture, misconduct, investigations & performance.
I'm looking toward to what we can all deliver together.
I just listened to this @reducingcrime.com podcast with @jerryratcliffe.net & Gina V. Hawkins.
What a fantastic discussion about all sorts, but particularly about women in policing & the trials & tribulations of bringing up a family while being a senior leader. Well worth a listen!
