I recently visited Maria in the Tacoma detention center. She is a loving mom, pays her taxes, and has no criminal history -- not even a parking ticket. She deserves to come home to her two children and her husband, who is recovering from surgery. I will not stop fighting until she is home.

Volunteer at food banks this week. Show up for a 2-hour shift. Sorting, bagging, intake, there's a role for everyone. Donate smart. Shelf-stable staples first; ask for priority items before dropping off. Be kind to clerks. They didn't create this mess. They're catching the fallout. Hunger is not a negotiating tactic.
