I look forward to some serious #SetPieces.
what are we saying chat, Max Dowman’s breakout match?
ohhhh I would not do that. I guess to get minutes into his legs we might choose to, but for me I’d be looking to get him a start v Leverkusen.
yes exactly. and you can also see the quality in depth—Tottenham, who are generously perhaps the 17th best team in the PL, are current Europa League holders and finished in the top 8 in the CL.
we’d score five million corners per game if the box was less crowded and contested.
ah well, Martin Zubimendi had nice hamstrings for a while.
good point
yeah. could put Saka or Dowman at 10 maybe. but that just shifts the problem around.
god that guy is broken isn’t he
and football will correct itself anyway. football is very good at correcting itself. it has a long history of tactical changes to accommodate changing play dynamics.
as do all our left backs and LCBs!
very annoying because both our midfielders really need a rest.
white salmon calafiori is my favourite dish
is it right that MLS is banned for the cup game tomorrow? annoying if so. here’s how I’d go if he is:
—Kepa—
Salmon-White-Mozzie-Ricky
Nargle-Ife Ibrahim
—Eze—
Maximum Wowman-Jesus-Noni
quite difficult to make the back half of the horse stand up while also resting the players who look shagged.
I think it’s exactly that, yep. but perhaps even more so.
there seems to me to be a lot of determination in some quarters to say exactly the opposite: that the PL is current bad because it’s boring. which it is. but it’s boring because it’s too good.
well that’s a concern over aesthetics not a concern over quality.
yes it would be worse! fewer goals!
honestly I don’t want more red cards or for refs to be more central to any aspect of the rebalancing of football. that idea worries me a lot.
and look, just speaking personally I am in favour of rule changes that open up non set piece play. both because I enjoy it and because I think it will benefit Arsenal.
what that change would be is not at all obvious to me.
it’s mad how misdiagnosed this is. it’s not an issue of a lack of quality; it’s an issue of a surplus of quality. all PL teams are too good, and they are too well coached. it creates tight, cagey games.
good players executing well coached mid blocks and low blocks = find another way = set pieces
I made it just for you. probably.

*spoiler alert* 🚨 🚨🚨🚨🚨
I agree, I would laugh a lot.
Samuel has been drinking the City coolaid for fully 15 years. an absolute shill.
the beautiful game—our beautiful game—is too fluid and not as staccato these B rate sports to allow it to happen. that’s why they want to hold world cups in barren scorched wastelands. so they can use water breaks as a Trojan horse to sell us more McDonald burgers.
