MIβGAβVA. cat mama to Coalπ€, Steeleπ©Ά, and Lissy Louππ. auntie, historian, musician, genealogist. probably squinting. mad online (and offline too). lurking in the comment section. she/her or they/them. opinions mine. #FireUpChips
tell Staff itβs for your balance and stability while youβre on #hedgewatch! you donβt want to lose your footing standing in that curved windowsill.
wear headphones to watch this if you live with cats, they wonβt like it.
archival footage of my Lissy Lou at her best and sassiest. thereβs a reason her Dr. Grandpa called her βHissy Pissyβ π
hearing chair, after thinking out loud for about two minutes: βI donβt know if I have a question in there anywhereβ
either do we!
things every single republican president of your lifetime has done
- started a war in the middle east
- completely destroyed the economy
itβs been a long time since I meowed at a cat, I guess Coal wanted to make sure itβs a long time before I do it again.
this morning trying to head out for work:
-rare Steele meow (quiet and squeaky)
-I meowed back (am human)
-Coal looked at us, made eye contact with me, and meowed (authoritative and sassy)
guess I did it wrong π€·ββοΈ
the tail swish! π
a close-up of back feet belonging to Steele, a gray tuxedo cat with white socks. one foot has the toe furthest to the left spread away from the rest, with his claw digging into the carpet. his other back foot has visible toe beans on display.
Steeleβs toe exhibiting levels of stability we can all aspire to #stabilitytoe
Coleman Barks, 1937-2026
(Read Michael & Peterβs remembrances below & in the comments)
βColeman provided refuge and anchor for entire communitiesβAthens being one, poetry anotherβfor what seems like centuries. His beauty and joyous nature will be deeply missed, but will continue through aβ¦

I donβt think itβs weird at all! but I am kind of weird.
you fostered Toby to get him ready for a successful happily ever after with his humans. if it were me, Iβd be thrilled to know someone who loves him very much thought of him on his birthday.
donβt stick us in the middle here! either the opposing party can pay for the thing they want from us or they can just not get it. and realistically, based on my experience with both sides in this, they should all know how this works.
lol Iβm so tired
attorney: hi, Iβm calling to ask a question opposing party asked meβ¦
question turned out to be about an administrative thing related to do with our services for their proceeding, but needs to be hashed out between the parties. and this attorney definitely knows that.
Steele, a gray tuxedo cat, stands on his back feet with his front paws on a door. he is looking at his reflector in a mirror on the door, but also licking the mirror.
heβs standing on his back feet toβ¦lick the handsome boy in the mirror??!?
donβt ask me, I donβt know how he decides to do these things
my grandma and great-aunt COATED me in it. but I still got eaten up.
as a local, you know the DC squirrels are highly entertaining!
paperweight, pen holder, meowy face. if weβd had Steele back then, youβd still be trying to type your dissertation with one hand.
uh-oh, Jinx without that famous smileβ¦definitely time for more treats!
never expected to see a CATA timetable all the way out here
she contributed a great deal to your work, particularly as a printing assistant
baby looks very surprised to have made it all the way up there! π€
βIs there a technology the left is excited about?β
Yeah man, itβs called anything that can be useful and make my bills go down instead of a thing that canβt do anything without my help and doubles my electricity bill
tried to get a few more minutes of sleep and Steele attacked my feet π
Steele, a gray and white tuxedo cat with a white mustache, perches on the back of his momβs chair. she is partially visible on the left side of the photo.
worked from home Friday evening to give a colleague a (rare and very well-deserved) night off. the intern doesnβt have opposable thumbs or much in the way of computer skills, but he was very encouraging and enthusiastic about seeing the cursor moving on screen
I see a little wet paw print! not only is there snow, but Murray has to deal with a wet foot too?! no wonder she looks so fierce.
Coal made biscuits on me for a good five minutes. he then tried to push me out of bed, but hey, BISCUITS!
what a gorgeous cat π€π€
went to pick up my prescriptions and CVS had packages of Cadbury creme eggs on sale. buy one at regular price, the second is $1. did I need them? probably not, but they taste like Easter when I was a kid so I bought them anyway.
Coal, a shiny and sleek black cat, yawns widely while perched at the top of a beige cat tree
a fierce boy tells his mama that she is BORING, mere hours after he and his brother tried to keep her from leaving home to go to work by blocking themselves and their dad inside the bedroom where mamaβs work clothes were.
