Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.
More of this, please. The folks in this grassroots group are heroes.
Haven Watch lives by the promise, βNo One Walks Alone.β Day or night, they show up. When people are released from ICE detention, volunteers meet them in the cold, disoriented, and exhausted.
Beautiful and devastating all at once.
That's awful. I feel the pushback has been coming since #metoo and we see it in overt ways in media, politics, etc. but I feel it's got worse just walking down the street (the simmering anger breaking into gestures, if not acts, of violentlce).
Thank you Ben! You're truly brilliant - can'twait for books 3 & 4 (and 5: personal essays π). Sorry, just seen this, been ill since this wonderful chat! Slowly resurfacing.
Had such an amazing time talking to @hannahhg.bsky.social - I really hope you get a chance to listen

Jane Eyre modesty I sense from you regarding appearance, but I've had it too or weird obstructing of the pavement and squaring up to me, which is very disconcerting and intimidating, and of course, wrong. Solidarity in these unsettling times!
the pushing-women thing is SO ODD. I've had it happen to me twice (& I'm white, middle-aged & not pretty, so am usually fairly invisible): both times it was so startling & aggressive. It's a mild form of what's in this piece but it's worrying to extrapolate from: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
12 stories about death and dying, you say? And 25% of pre-orders with the code FEB26?
What more could you ask for?

A photo of a woman in pink in a wheelchair. She has an intubation for oxygen. She looks up at the viewer. Words: This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine ! would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin. We need more stories about us and our culture. You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all. may her memory
I am gutted to learn of @sfdirewolf.bsky.social (Alice Wongβs) passing. She was always a warm friend, a wonderful spirit, and someone who fostered my own growth. She helped me see that, as a #disabled person with chronic illness, I matterβI am whole. Iβll be posting some of Aliceβs work. β€οΈ forever

Beautiful photograph of anti-slavery activist Sarah Remond.
Remond also spent 3 years in Britain, arriving in 1859. She studied at Bedford College, but continued to give public lectures across the country.

The cover of a book. Text reads Textile Shakespeare. The lower part of the image is ink printed on linen and embroidery, black on white, with some silver thread, with flowers, fruit, insects, and animals. it is discoloured with age.
TEXTILE SHAKESPEARE is official-publication-date-minus-2-weeks (11 November) which is a LOTπ (I can't remember feeling this wound up about other books, I have the concentration of a gnat at the momentπ) but seems to be live as an e-book already so, available to your Kindle right now, apparently...
