Itβs difficult not to lose faith when so much of the system is rigged against support for Palestine in the UK, but god damn, this feels like a massive, vital win.

Following the disastrous announcements made by Mr. Yves Guillemot (cost-cutting plan, projects scrapped, end of remote working, etc.), the Solidaires Informatique union is calling for a strike on Thursday, January 22, in the morning. We are calling on Ubisoft Paris employees to strike for half a day, with the following demands: β’ the end of the cost-cutting plan, β’ maintaining and extending the teleworking conditions, β’ decent pay raises this year. This is an initial answer to the absurdity of management's decisions. Other strikes are currently being discussed. It is out of the question to let a boss run wild and destroy our working conditions. Perhaps we need to remind him that it is his employees who make the games.
UBISOFT - Call for strike

Amazing news! Chris is hands down one of the best games journalists out there, and a really nice guy too!
Congrats Chris, very well deserved!
I'm catching up with details of the arguments Rockstar made to justify firing 34 people summarily and good god this is some thin bullshit. They really don't bother lying any more do they.
We traveled back up to Edinburgh to be there as Rockstar Games and its fired union members took their case to court:

Workers protest outside Rockstar North in Edinburgh on Friday January 9th.
Our statement concerning the decision to not grant interim pay relief to the member's fired by Rockstar. We remain confident in the strength of our case against Rockstar Games and we reiterate our firm belief that Rockstar broke the law when it summarily dismissed 31 union members.
We'll be publishing our full report from the hearing tomorrow afternoon (UK time), but needless to say, there's an awful lot of additional context to understand about what happened here.
This is a really tough outcome for the union's members, especially those who were in the UK on work visas.
This is perhaps a good time to mention that I attended this preliminary hearing at the start of the week, met some of the fired union members in its aftermath and have been able to review Rockstar's evidence in-person for myself.
We'll have more to share once the result has been announced.
Hereβs hoping 2026 is a bit better, and we see more game dev unions forming and getting recognised!
On the plus side, weβve done amazing things building our union and itβs going from strength to strength, and Iβve found myself getting fired with the most incredible bunch of 33 other people I could possibly ask forβ¦
Itβs been a bit of a wild end to the year. When I started out in 2025 I definitely didnβt expect getting fired and appearing in an interview on the BBC to be on the list of things to comeβ¦

Who does he think he is? Zack Polanski sparks fury by releasing pro migration message at same time as King Charles
Oh GB News. Have a day off and enjoy a mince pie.
How dare I talk positively about migration & refugee rights at this time of year that should be about *checks notes* good tidings and warm wishes.
Tune in at 3pm to watch and judge for yourself.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Me too!
i love being a union member

We're also running another fundraiser too! This one, like last time, is for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.
Back in 2023, PMG viewers donated $67,000 to the PCRF, which is mad.
I've no idea if that's possible again here, but please consider chucking a few quid into the pool, if you can.
Itβs a landslide! The results are in, and Equity members have made their position clear with a 99.6% YES vote. They are prepared and ready to take action to secure AI protections.

Union members outside Rockstar Toronto's studio with banners that say "Grand Theft Wages" and "We're Done Playing"
Last week, our CWA Canada union siblings shared leaflets and delivered letters outside Rockstar Games Toronto with other community members and union allies to demand that the studio reinstates the illegally-terminated workers after they attempted to organize.
All eyes on Rockstar!
