Actions are how I match intentions. If someone tells me something but then actions dont back it up I have data to prove their words meaningless. I strive everyday to ensure my words and actions align.

A dialectic is when two things are true and they conflict with each other. This can cause lots of psychological distress.
We can simultaneously hold hope and faith that there is good in the world and outrage and mobilize against this administration and their actions.
I believe a lot of problems were solved on the playground in the 80's. Had a bully? Good game of dodge ball. Wanted to really win? Swing set and launch yourself into the air like a rocket.
Maybe we bring that back in DC and see who becomes the last one standing in a good game of freeze tag.
I think Gavin needs to go to Kansas. They just passed a bill taking drivers licenses of trans folk. How about culturally normal becomes Constutionally normal Gavin?

Juggling all the things today
Community, real community, is a place of sanctuary and of inquiry. Those who hold space for me also remind me what I say my values are. There is a calling in when I stray from who I say I want to be. Struggle is met with compassion and care.
Humor, even sarcastic humor, reminds me to laugh at life. Not those trying to live it. The thought anyone truly has "the formula" for a perfect life is ludicrous to me. Everyone struggles with something. There is no perfect life. Only a life i can live in full authenticity as messy as it is.
Hope seems to be juvenile and pollyanna to those who want to see it destroyed. Oppression requires learned helplessness. Hope is at the core of activism and advocacy. Hope + diverse community + action = change. That's what the orange kool aid drinkers are really scared of right now.
The psychological consequences of our current administration will be felt for years to come. Being in a dystegulated state because of political gaslighting is a sign you are still engaged. Now we build community so we dont face this alone. #takesavillage
Today Im choosing community over competition. The only person Im competing with is the guy in the mirror. I want to learn, grow, and become more by listening and being with those around me.
My need to be informed and engaged is constantly pushing my mental health and my emotional equilibrium. Im a tired therapist. Those I serve are struggling in the politicized climate to just exist.
Bears repeating right now
@captmarkkelly.bsky.social, you are my Senator and Im proud to call you my senator. I stand with you in defiance of facism
John, GenX therapist and researcher here. I actually recommend Velvet Rage to all my clients because.... 1) every movement has context. We lost so many gay men in the 70s-early 90s because there were no meds; 2) that collective loss created a backlash of need for freedom folks experience now
Hooooman, stop click click on glowing box and pay attention to me. Im cuter
Well good grief, supposed to be criticize yourself. Lol
Ya know there are days that just suck. When they happen you gotta love on yourself more than you citizens yourself. The world will critize you more than enough. But, the world won't love you how you need to be loved when it really counts. So begin with self love and pick yourself up, go get em!

Intentionally limiting how much I take in from news or social media is a way to control what is feeding my anxiety. No one can stay tuned in 24/7 without loosing their self in the process. Silence is sorting though what I have held onto to see if it fits or not
ICE just arrested Brad Lander, the NYC Comptroller and one of the leading candidates for Mayor, without grounds.
He was conducting routine immigration court work, escorting individuals from hearings.
He asked ICE for their warrant - well within his legal rights.
This is political intimidation.
SEN. PADILLA: βSaying I lunged is a lie, but thatβs par for the course for this administrationβ¦ I was behind the cameras listening, and at a certain point hearing Noem say they had to rescue LA from the Governor and Mayor was too much to take. So I raise my voice to ask a question.β
The space between impulse and action can be small but the consequences are life altering
Thoughts and feelings are the traffic jams of being a living being. We are not our thoughts. We are not our feelings. We are not our worst day. We are not our best day. We are a collection and compliation of all that has happened and what we have learned from it.
