As global leaders gather in Belem- Brazil, its important to note that 11 brave environmental defenders are currently in jail in Uganda and have spent 118 days in prison for their brave resistance against fossil fuel infrastructure development in uganda.

Even as our members endure jail just for their dissent against the deadly East African Crude Oil Pipeline, the 12 brave activists are spending their fifth night on remand at Luziira Maximum Security Prisons for opposing @stanb debt financing of EACOP. We demand their release!

Court Trial Update: 9 of our members will today appear before the magistrate at City Hall Court to respond to Trumped up charges of Common Nuissance for participating in a non-violent protest march we held on 21st May 2025 against @kcbbankug ‘s partial debt financing for EACOP

KCB bank, Total Energies and the government of Uganda remain complicit in the continued persecution and intimidation to environmental defenders fighting against EACOP project. We demand the immediate release of brave 11 environmental defenders detained for protesting @kcbbankug funding of EACOP

Court Update: Tommorrow, 11 of our members will appear before magistrate at Buganda Road Court to stand a court trial on charges of common nuissance for engaging in a non-violent protest on 26th February 2025 at European Union Embassy. We demand @ODPPUGANDA drops these charges

Nalwadda Shammy a vocal member championing the fight against the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, she sends a strong message of solidarity to the #KCB11 as they stand trial and demands their immediate release unfortunately these are enduring prison for their dissent against EACOP

The greed of multi-national corporations like @TotalEnergies @CNOOCUgandaLtd and financial institutions like @kcbbankug @stanbicug will cost future generation starving as a result of the climate collapse, our last chance is to step up in civil disobedience against oil projects.

Its our moral duty to resist dirty oil pipeline projects like the East African Crude Oil Pipeline. We will never relent.

Climate Change is real, its the greatest existential threat generations continue to suffer from. This crisis is exercabated by continued oil drilling activities around the globe and lincensing of oil projects like the East African Crude Oil Pipeline.
